Athens
The capital and largest city of Greece, in the eastern part of the country near the Saronic Gulf.
It was at the height of its cultural achievements and imperial power in the fifth century B.C. during the time of Pericles.
The main landmark of Athens is the acropolis (412 ft/126 m high), which dominates the city and on which
stand the remains of the Parthenon, the propylaea, and the Erechtheum.
The city's ruins and many museums make it a major tourist destination.
Santorini, Greece
The island of Santorini Greece or Thira is located in the Cyclades islands, in the middle of the Greek Islands of the Aegean Sea. Santorini is, along with Mykonos and Crete, the most famous holiday destinations in Greece. It is a small group of volcanic islands and its name refers to to Saint Irene. Called also Strongili and Kalisti, the island was the site of one of the largest volcanic eruptions in the world and what remains today is a submerged volcano and a caldera.
Patmos, Greece
The Monastery of St John*, which is more like a fortress with its pinnacles and thick exterior walls, guards over the nestling town with its whitewashed houses.
Yet behind the im- posing facade are a friendly and light inner courtyard, an impressive treasure chamber, and a chapel.
Kusadasi,Turkey
The Sea Dream I is in the largest marina in the Aegean, and very close to the famous ancient port of Ephesus*. This once magnificent city is still impressive today. Ephesus is the site of one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.
It was here that St Paul came to preach, and the philosopher Heraclitus arranged his ideas and his view of the world. Everything fows – panta rhei.
Mytilene, Lesbos, Greece
Farming is still very important on Lesbos, the third-largest Greek island. The island is dotted with olive groves, and woods provide shade. If you wish, you can visit the island capital of Mytilene, which was founded 3,000 years ago.
A castle, many churches and a beautiful seafront promenade are waiting to be discovered at your leisure.
